Additional information

Composition

Product made with epoxy resin and a polyamine hardener.

Features and applications

  • Primer suitable for new or old substrates; apply before repairing cement-based, elastomeric, or epoxy coatings.
  • Suitable for dry and damp surfaces.
    Water-based.
  • Excellent adhesion and consolidation of the substrate.
  • Fast application and curing process.
  • Deep penetration capacity.

Substrates

  • The substrate should be sound, clean, free of grease, oil, dust and friable parts. It should be structurally solid; with a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm² and a resistance to traction of 1.5 N/mm².
  • Open the pores of the surface by blast cleaning or scarifying to ensure good penetration.
  • Dry the substrate until the surface water disappears so as to prevent the pores being saturated and the adhesion impaired.

Instructions for use

MIXING:

  • Pour component B into component A, ensuring that both are fully mixed and that the correct proportions are used.
  • Mix them together mechanically at low speed for 3 minutes (less than 300 rpm), until the mixture is completely homogenous. DO NOT MIX MANUALLY.
  • Avoid air entrapment during mixing.

APPLICATION:

  • Apply the product on the surfaces, with a roller or brush. Cover the whole surface, the shine of the product will show where it has been applied.
  • Two coats are recommended on high porosity concrete. The first coat can be diluted up to a maximum of 10% in water weight. Do not add water to the product for the second coat

CURING PROCESS:

  • The cure rate of the mixture depends on the temperature of the components, the substrate and the environment.
  • The coats following the primer should be applied within 12-24 hours of applying IMPLAREST EPW.
  • If more than 24 hours after, the surface should be rubbed down with sandpaper and a new coat of IMPLAREST EPW applied.

Cautions and recommendations

  • Do not mix at temperatures below +10ºC or above +20ºC.
  • To improve the roughness and therefore the adhesion of the subsequent coats, always sprinkle 0.3 mm to 0.5 mm dry quartz sand until saturation with the primer still fresh.
  • The application should be done when the temperature is constant or is decreasing so as to prevent the formation of bubbles in the primer.
  • Epoxy-based product that can irritate the skin, so wearing gloves, protective glasses and safety overalls is always recommended.
  • All tools and utensils should be cleaned with a solvent immediately after use, to prevent the material hardening and then having to be removed by mechanical means.
  • Consult the Technical Department for any application not specified in this Technical Datasheet.
  • For further information regarding the safe handling, transport, storage and use of the product, check the label and the latest version of the Product Safety Datasheet.
