Composition

Bicomponent product based on hydraulic binders and synthetic resins.

Features and applications

  • Permeable to water vapor.
  • Resistant to freezing and thawing.

  • Waterproofing external walls on foundation structures.
  • Repair and protection of surfaces exposed to freezing and thawing conditions: overhangs, balconies, flat roofs, terraces, cornices, etc. 
  • Waterproofing of surfaces susceptible to movement, with positive and negative hydrostatic pressures.
  • High yield.

Substrates

  • The substrate must be sound, clean, and free of grease, oil, dust and badly-bonded parts. 
  • The absorbent substrates should be previously wetted until they are saturated, preventing waterlogging. 
  • Cracks and damaged concrete have to be repaired beforehand with MORCEMREST RF 15 or MORCEMREST RF 35.
  • For the waterproofing of old terraces, swimming pools and balconies, you must make sure:
    • That the existing ceramic coating is well adhered to the substrate (stable substrate).
    • That the ceramic coating is totally clean: free of dust, dirt, grease, varnishes, waxes, oil, moulds, and traces of lime...

NOTE: To carry out this type of applications, consult the technical department beforehand, in order to monitor the work.
 

Instructions for use

Mixing the mortar:

  • Start by manually or mechanically mixing the Component A powder with 3/4 of the Component B liquid. Then add the remaining liquid and mix again until achieving a homogenous mass. 

Application:

  • Wet the surface without leaving an excess of water. MORCEM DRY F is applied in two coats, each 1 mm thick, with a brush, long-haired roller or mortar projection pump.
  • Apply the first layer in one direction and leave it to set for an hour (at 20ºC). After the required time, apply a second layer in the opposite direction. As the drying time may vary depending on the environmental conditions, it should be borne in mind that the purpose of this operation is to apply a second layer when the first one is not wound, so that both of them finally act in a monolithic way. In no case apply when the first one is too dry, as we would obtain a two-layer scheme in which the adherence and stability of the set could be damaged.
  • To treat cracks with possible movements, it is recommended to reinforce the coating with a fibre-glass mesh on the second layer.  Immediately afterwards, place an additional layer of MORCEM DRY F on the same mesh.
  • Wait at least 2 days before being covered with the ceramic coating.
  • The final finish can be done by smoothing with a trowel, or by tapping with a sponge mat, depending on the desired texture.
  • MORCEM® DRY F will be applied as uniformly as possible, to avoid excess material causing cracks in it.
  • Wait at least 2 days before filling with water
  • Wait at least 2 days before being covered with ceramic tiles
     

Curing:

  • Protect from the wind, frost and sun during hardening.  To prevent excessive drying out, it is recommended to cover the surface with wet hessians or plastic during curing.

Cautions and recommendations

  • Do not apply below 5ºC nor above 30ºC.
  • Preferably do not apply with the risk of frost, rain, strong winds or direct sun; or in that case; protect it properly.
  • To ensure waterproofing, the minimum thickness should be 2 mm.
  • At critical points of the element to be waterproofed, it is recommended to arm the cladding between the two layers with a thin grid mesh strip, MALLA DRYPOOL or GEOTEXTIL PU (100 gr), which must be placed as carefully as possible, avoiding bags or folds in the framework structure. . The joints of the reinforcement will be made by overlapping with a minimum width of 5 cm.
  • For the union between wall-wall, wall-screed, wall-ceiling the application in the form of a half-round 5 x 5 cm of MORCEMREST RF 15 or MORCEMREST RF 35 is recommended.
  •  Consult the Technical Department for any further application that may have not been specified in this Technical Data Sheet.
  • For all information regarding the safety in the handling, transport, storage and use of the product check the updated version of the Safety Data Sheet of the product.
  • Do not add cement, sand or any other substance which will alter the product properties.
  • Instruments and tools should be cleaned with water immediately after use to prevent material hardening, which has to be eliminated by mechanical means.
  • Wash the waterproofed surface with clean water 48 hours after application. Repeat the operation at least twice before filling the tank. 

Packaging

MORCEM DRY F comes in bags of 20 Kg of powder and bottles of 7,8 Kg of liquid. Shelf life: 1 year in sealed original packaging, sheltered from weather conditions and humidity.
