Technical Caracteristics

Two-component product consisting of hydraulic binders and synthetic resins.

Advantages and Uses

  • High performance: a 2 mm thick coating will cover cracks up to 2 mm wide.
  • Permanent flexibility.
  • Not a water vapor barrier.
  • Resistant against positive and negative hydrostatic pressure.
  • Suitable for exposure to potable water.
  • Waterproofing of swimming pools, bathrooms, balconies, terraces, fountains, etc, before laying ceramic tile, mocaics or stone.
  • Interior waterproofing of drinking water tanks.
  • Waterproofing of tanks, ponds, basements, underground car parks, elevator pits, tunnels, etc.
  • Interior waterproofing of drinking water tanks.
  • Waterproofing and protection of concrete against carbonation, seawater, freeze-thaw cycles and chloride attack in public works, irrigation systems, sewage treatment plants, desalination plants, bridges...etc
  • Waterproofing of exterior foundation walls.
  • Repair and protection of surfaces exposed to the action of freezing and thawing: overhangs, balconies, roofs, terraces, cornices.
  • Waterproofing and protection of surfaces susceptible to movements,
  • MORCEM® DRY SF PLUS is in conformity with the requirements established in the Royal Decree 140/2003, whereby there are established the sanitary criteria of the quality of the water of human consumption.

Suitable Substrates

  • Concrete, screeds and other cement-based substrates should be properly cured before application.
  • The substrate must be sound, clean, free of greases, oils, dust, laitance and any bad adhered pieces. Use sandblasting or high-pressure water jet where needed.
  • Dampen absorbent surfaces with water before application, avoiding waterlogging.
  • Repair cracks and damaged concrete with Morcemseal Todo 1, before application.
  • To waterproof terraces, swimming pools and balconies with existing coverings, the following must be ensured:
  • The existent ceramic, mosaic or stone covering must be well adhered to the substrate (stable substrate), and must be totally clean and free from dust, dirt, greases, varnishes, waxes, oils, or any other substance that could affect proper adhesion.

NOTE: In order to carry out this type of applications, please consult our technical department in order to monitor the work.

Application Procedure

  • Mix mechanically component A powder with 3/4 parts of component B liquid
  • Then add the remaining liquid component and then mix until the dough become homogeneous.
Application:
  • Dampen the surface without leaving excess water. MORCEM® DRY SF PLUS is applied in two coats of thickness 1 mm each one, using paintbrush, roller, trowel, or spraying machine.
  • Apply a first layer following one direction and let it set long enough so that the application of the second layer does not affect the integrity of this first layer, but the first layer is still fresh.
  • Apply a second layer in the opposite direction (at 90º). As the setting time can vary depending on the environmental conditions, it must be taken into account that the purpose of this operation is to apply a second layer when the first layer cannot be damaged by the second one so that finally both act in a monolithic way. Never apply when the first coat is too dry,
  • Reinforce cracks with fiberglass mesh MALLA DRY POOL. Apply a first layer of MORCEM DRY SF PLUS, Embed the MALLA DRY POOL mesh with the second MORCEMDRY SF PLUS layer, let it dry and apply a third layer. Make sure that the mesh is fully embedded.
  • The surface can be smoothened with a trowel or sponge, depending on the texture that might required for a paint finish.
  • MORCEM® DRY SF PLUS should be applied as uniform as possible to avoid any excess of material which may lead to cracks.
  • Wait for at least 2 days before flood testing or filling with water.
  • Wait for at least 2 days before applying a ceramic tile, natural stone or mosaic.
  • In critical areas such as coves and corners, it is recommended to reinforce the coating with MALLA DRYPOOL or BANDTEC. Apply according to technical data sheet of the products.

Recommendations

  • Do not apply below 5ºC nor above 40C.
  • Protect the product from frost, rain, strong winds direct sunlight, during and immediately after application.
  • Minimum thickness must be 2 mm.
  • Expansion joints must be respected wherever present, and should be treated by folding BANDTEC band into the joint ,and sandwich the band on the surface between 2 layers of Morcem Dry SF PLUS.
  • The surface of balconies and terraces should always be reinforced by sandwiching MESHDRY POOL between the 2 layers of Morecem Dry SF PLUS.
  • Critical areas, such as corners, coves, seams and changes in plane should be treated with BANDTEC or MALLADRY POOL between 2 layers of mortar.
  • Wherever BANDTEC or MALLA DRYPOOL is used, it should be placed using overlaps with a minimum width of 5 cm and as carefully as possible avoiding pockets or folds.
  • Please consult technical data sheet of both the products before applying.
  • When installing mosaic, it is recommended to treat the junctions between wall-wall, wall-screed, wall-ceiling by applying MORCEMSEAL TODO 1 in the form of a 5 x 5 cm half round.
  • Consult the Technical Department for any application not specified in this Technical Data Sheet. For all information regarding safety in handling, transport, storage and use of the product check the updated version of the Product Safety Data Sheet.
  • Do not add cement, sand nor any other substances that may affect the properties of the material.
  • Tools should be cleaned with water immediately after use, before the mortar starts to set, Once hardened, cleaning can only be carried out mechanically.
  • Wash the waterproofed surface with clean water after 48 hours of application. Repeat the operation at least twice before filling the deposit.
