Additional information

Composition

One-component polyurethane-based filler. Classified as a first-class elastomer.

Features and applications

  • Easy to apply.
  • Waterproof.
  • Great adhesion with no need to use any other type of primer on most cement-  based materials, stone...
  • Good resistance to weathering and ageing.
  • Sealing expansion and static joints.
  • Sealing roof tiles.
  • Sealing joints between panels made of concrete, aluminum, iron, wood...
  • Good adhesion on anodized aluminum and mortar.

Substrates

  • Substrates should be clean, dry and free of dust, grease and molding products. On concrete, wait for it to be dry and stable (minimum 4 weeks).
  • Users must check the compatibility of the filler with the substrate with respect to adhesion and chemical compatibility.

Instructions for use

  • A backer rod made of material that will not adhere to the filler should be installed beforehand in the joint in order to control the depth to be filled and to serve as support during the filling. The backer rod should not have any susceptible notches that may cause bubbling of the joint.
  • Protect the edges of the joint with an adhesive tape for a better finish.
  • If necessary apply a thin coat of polyurethane primer on the substrates.
  • When it has dried, apply by compression, a backer rod that is flexible and does not adhere to the cement.
  • Apply the cartridges with a universal manual applicator gun, piercing the opening of the cartridge and screwing the plastic nozzle. Apply in such a way as to avoid air entrapment, keeping the depth and angle of the applicator gun constant.
  • For narrow joints, apply the filler in a single step, and for very wide joints apply in three steps, the first two on the edges of the joint and the third on the bottom of the joint.
  • Smooth the PUMALASTIC-PU with a spatula that has been wetted in soap and water, pressing the filler appropriately against the edges and bottom of the joint. Remove the adhesive tapes and scrape the polymerized filler. Do not use solvents.
  • The filler can be painted when it has completely polymerized. Ideally use emulsion paints (acrylic, vinyl) and carry out a test beforehand.

Cautions and recommendations

  • Keep away from heat.
  • It contains reactive isocyanates and small amounts of solvent. It is advisable to work with good ventilation and not to smoke.
  • Due to the sensitivity of polyurethanes to ultraviolet rays, light colors will undergo color changes, which only affect the aesthetics and never the mechanical properties or watertightness of the product.
  • Avoid contact with skin. If it comes into contact with eyes, wash immediately with water.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not apply at temperatures below 5ºC or above 30ºC.
