Morcemrest® Anticarbonatación

Matte coating based on acrylic copolymers, indicated for the protection and decoration of façades of any kind of material (concrete, cement, bricks, etc.), providing the substrate with an excellent resistance against any environmental condition. With an excellent finish quality.
Preserves concrete structures from degradation caused by atmospheric agents as well as façades, prefabricated elements, beams, pillars, etc.

Advantages and Uses

  • Good homogenisation of the product and easy to apply.
  • Excellent coverage.
  • Great resistance against ageing.
  • No tacking.
  • Easy to clean.
  • Self-cleaning by rain water.
  • Good resistance to the substrate’s alkali.
  • Excellent penetration.
  • Resistant to open air and ultra violet rays.
  • Reduces the diffusion of CO2.
  • Protects concrete elements against carbonation according to EN 1504-2:2004.
  • Environmental resistance.
  • Permeable to water vapour.
  • Null yellowing index.

Suitable Substrates

NEW CONSTRUCTIONS:

  • Wait until complete curing (minimum 30 days).
  • Clean any possible efflorescence with abrasive blasting.
  • On polished surfaces, sand to open the pores.
  • Clean the surface from foreign substances or construction material residues.
  • Fill in defects on the substrate with suitable exterior filler compound.
  • Remove any possible dust, grease and any other contaminants.
  • Apply a FIJAMOR layer diluted with 3 parts of water, to fix and equalise the absorption of the substrate.
  • Apply the paint according to the instructions given.

OLD CONSTRUCTIONS: (Restoration or maintenance)

  • For painted surfaces, it is essential to check the solidity and adhesion of the paint, determine its nature to avoid potential incompatibilities, and remove dust, dirt, and poorly adhered paint before repainting.
  • Treat surfaces with mould using bleach or another suitable disinfectant.
  • Level any irregularities with a suitable amount of paste. Let it dry and sand it.
  • Apply a FIJADOR-SELLADOR coat diluted with 3 parts of water, to fix and equalise the absorption of the substrate.
  • Apply the paint according to the instructions given.

Application Procedure

  • On typical construction substrates, both outdoors and indoors, especially recommended for:
    • Concrete
    • Cellular concrete
    • Cement mortars
  • In all cases, the substrate must be firm, clean, free from remnants of old paint, oils, grease, dust, release agents, etc.
  • The substrate can be damp but not wet.
  • The substrate temperature should be at least +5ºC and at most +30ºC, and efforts should be made to maintain uniform temperatures during application and curing.
  • Shake until perfect homogenisation.
  • Dilute the first coat with 10-15% water to ensure good product penetration.
  • Dilute the second coat and subsequent ones using up to 5% of water.
  • It can be applied by brush, roll or pistole, previously shaking and diluting the product respectively.
  • Tools must be cleaned with abundant water before the paint dries.

Recommendations

  • Always homogenize the product before applying.
  • Dilute the product according to the porosity and condition of the substrate to ensure maximum penetration of the first coat into the substrate.
  • Total thickness of the coat of around 250 microns when wet is recommended.
  • Do not apply under 5ºC.
  • Do not apply the product with relative humidity above the 85% nor on wet substrates.
  • Do not apply under the risk of rains.
  • Do not use consumption rates lower or higher than those specified without consulting our Technical Department.
  • Do not use on substrates that will be submerged or in permanent contact with water.

Packaging and Storage
