Additional information

Composition

Product based on special cements, selected aggregates and additives, reinforced with fibres.

Features and applications

  • Resistant to sulphates.
  • Class R4 repair mortar, complies with standard EN-1504-3.
  • High bonding strength and high elastic modulus High thixotropy.
  • Strong humid adherence and cohesion ( ideal for applying onto ceilings).
  • Water vapour permeable.
  • Good resistance to chlorides.
  • Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.
  • Retraction shrinkage is compensated to minimise risk of cracking.
  • Resistant to carbonation.
  • Weather resistant.
  • Suitable for structural elements reparation such as: columns, bridge slabs, treatment plants, tunnels, pillars with heavy loads.
  • General regeneration of concrete structures.

Substrates

  • Substrate must be in good condition, clean, free of grease, oil and loose parts (minimum traction strength of 1.5 MPa).
  • If necessary, prepare substrate mechanically until leave healthy concrete is reached.
  • Absorbent substrates are previously dampened to the point of saturation, avoiding water-logging. Apply MORCEMREST SR 50 when surface has become matt again .
  • If there are rebars, they must be cleaned of rust, grease and loose parts. Rusted parts must be cleaned, by sandblasting or with a metallic brush. Once cleaned protect them from rust with IMPLAREST C.
  • When used in rigid joints between vertical and horizontal concrete walls and slabs widen before the joint by cutting it to a width of 10 mm with a radial arm saw, and then remove the so cut material.

Instructions for use

Mixing the mortar:

  • Add 2/3 of total water into a clean bucket and gradually add while mixing the full amount of powder. Then add the remaining water and mix for 2 more minutes. The pot life of the mixed mortar does not exceed 30 minutes at a temperature of +20ºC; therefore do not mix more material than required.

Application:

  • Apply MORCEMREST RF 50 with a trowel or a spray gun. In case of manual application it is necessary to press it firmly to get good adhesion and compactness .
  • MORCEMREST RF 50 can be applied in several layers, with a minimum thickness of 5 mm each. On vertical surfaces thicknesses of up to 50 mm can be applied without the aid of moulds. The maximum thickness per layer on horizontal surfaces is 100 mm.
  • If used in rigid joints between vertical and horizontal concrete walls and slabs, fill completely the width of the joint.

Curing:

  • Protect from wind, ice and sun while the product is hardening. To avoid excessive drying while curing it is necessary to cover the surface of the mortar with moist sackcloth or plastic film. The curing operation is always necessary.

Cautions and recommendations

  • Do not add extra water to the mortar other than the recommended amount nor remix it.
  • Do not apply without adapted precautions below 5ºC nor above 30ºC.
  • Do not add cement, sand or other substances that could affect the material's properties.
  • Tools and instruments should be cleaned with water immediately after use and in any case before hardening of the mortar, in this case it can be removed mechanically.
  • Consult the Technical Department for any application not specified in this Technical Datasheet.
  • For any information regarding safety during handling, transport, storage and use of product please consult the current version of the Product's Safety Sheet.
  • When applying the repair mortar without a bonding bridge, the foundation of concrete must be rough, clean and well moistened before, but the surface must be free of water at the time of application, that is, the foundation must not be waterlogged. The repair mortar must be applied making it penetrate into the foundation previously prepared and must be compacted avoiding the inclusion of air in order to obtain the required strength, and to protect the reinforcement from corrosion.

Packaging

MORCEMREST SR 50 is supplied in 25 kg bags.

Shelf life: 1 year in sealed original packaging, sheltered from weather conditions and humidity.
